Since the last blog post there has been the usual hardships and laughs. My favorite reading from this quarter was the short story called "Minor embarrassment." Secretary Thurber was on guard when president Cleveland had gone on a fishing trip but wanted to keep it disclosed and not have the media all over it. Unfortunately that same weekend a famous person died who was somewhat close to Mr. Cleveland. Obviously the press wanted their fair share of the presidents word, but the president was fishing! Thurber stepped in and almost hid Clevelands whereabouts perfectly. He gave the presidents "word" to the press and almost saved the presidents ass. The next day press found out that the president was coming back from Virginia on fishing trip.
I've been in this situation plenty of times, trying to cover their tracks or for their own sake. In this story I relate to Thurber the most. I plan to comment on Gracies blog as well as Anils. Till next time

Well its really hard to relate to one "main" character just because the fact that the book is a variety of stories, but I guess I'll stick to one story called "Jackie's Painful tour." It's about Mamie Eisenhower giving a rough and harsh tour to Jacqueline Kennedy. The relationship seemed vary one sided and not a particularly a good side. Mamie was very blunt to here and wouldn't tell any secrets or pretty much anything, when Jackie would ask a question she would get an odd look or a mere snarl back from Mamie. I believe that it had to do with political stand points. I've been in this situation many times, when some one just hates you only five seconds after meeting. But then again I can see that happening on both sides. You know the feeling when you meet someone and they kinda give off a bad vibe? Anyways I don't think she should've been so quick to hate or judge in that situation, like give them a chance to really show themselves as who they are.
Well until next time Caleb |
