Holy crap, this book trips me out so much. I'm so confused and my brain is tripping out. Scratch what I said in the last blog post. Pretty much Mr. Orr's dreams keep coming real in are ruining the world. So pretty much they have to turn of this Dr.'s "sleeping machine." I'm not going to spoil the end even if you wind up not reading it. Just a lot of stuff happened since the last blog post but like the main thing that stood out to me was that. I don't understand why they didn't shut the machine off earlier and I think it's pretty dumb on Dr. Haber's part that he didn't do so earlier knowing that it was getting worse. Well a lot of the way I connect my books that I read with the outside world is with imagery. This book almost connects to like a really abstract painting in the way that his dreams are super fluctuant like an abstract painting. The one main similarity that I see from the book is George Orr seems to be like your average schizophrenic. A lot of the stuff is happening to him in his brain. The difference is one becomes reality and the other is all in your head.

This week I just started " The Lathe of Heaven." It's a very interesting book and I'm only on page twenty. The setting so far is in Mr. Orr's house and on the sixty third floor of a therapists building. The main Characters are Mr.Orr and Dr. Haber. They both have weird and very different personalities. Mr. Orr has recently overdosed on his self meds and is seeing a therapist for consultation. Their talking about how his dreams are becoming real and he wants to stop dreaming. This dilemma isn't your average. That's pretty much where I'm at right now.
I've read dystopian novels before but this one is by far my favorite. Other ones are like the typical dystopia and that kind of bores me. This one is way different from the others and I like it. There's something that separates it from the rest. In this blog post I'm supposed to relate stuff in this book to the real world. In this book one of the main characters Mr. Orr is suffering from sleep deprivation and depression. In the real world I want to say 95% of kids in my grade are sleep deprived. Also everyday I see depressed people. Yes this book takes place on earth. I think that this time period is like early 2000's to present day. It has references of characters being born in mid to late 1900's I plan to comment on my partners posts. Elena and Sorel. So ending the book there was a good last story called presidential spy plane. The story was definitely intense because of the missions the spy plane did but overall I thought it was a good story to end with. I’m going with the option of doing a spin off of this last story, but instead of telling you what actually happened and then doing a spin off I’m just going to do the spin off that way the story isn’t spoiled. SPIN OFF BELOW
After realizing the spy planes pictures were too far away to spectate the Soviet’s base, eisenhower and others came up with the plan to paint the bottom of the B-2 the color of the the sky with some clouds. To a point the idea sounded absolutely dumb and out of the picture, but as budget was cut and that was their last resort. Painting the bottom would make it less visible to the human eye making it easier for the plain to get more close up shots of the base. Miraculously the painting worked! But on the third mission something went wrong… The fuelers forgot to refuel the plane, mid flight the plane crashed on the south side of the base. The soviets salvaged the engines and other parts. They were able to research and study the engines and how they were silent. Now they are leading the spy plane race and are probably spying on us now. America is living in fear and is trying to hide everything possible. Signing off Caleb Commenting on Anils and Gracies blog Since the last blog post there has been the usual hardships and laughs. My favorite reading from this quarter was the short story called "Minor embarrassment." Secretary Thurber was on guard when president Cleveland had gone on a fishing trip but wanted to keep it disclosed and not have the media all over it. Unfortunately that same weekend a famous person died who was somewhat close to Mr. Cleveland. Obviously the press wanted their fair share of the presidents word, but the president was fishing! Thurber stepped in and almost hid Clevelands whereabouts perfectly. He gave the presidents "word" to the press and almost saved the presidents ass. The next day press found out that the president was coming back from Virginia on fishing trip.
I've been in this situation plenty of times, trying to cover their tracks or for their own sake. In this story I relate to Thurber the most. I plan to comment on Gracies blog as well as Anils. Till next time Well its really hard to relate to one "main" character just because the fact that the book is a variety of stories, but I guess I'll stick to one story called "Jackie's Painful tour." It's about Mamie Eisenhower giving a rough and harsh tour to Jacqueline Kennedy. The relationship seemed vary one sided and not a particularly a good side. Mamie was very blunt to here and wouldn't tell any secrets or pretty much anything, when Jackie would ask a question she would get an odd look or a mere snarl back from Mamie. I believe that it had to do with political stand points. I've been in this situation many times, when some one just hates you only five seconds after meeting. But then again I can see that happening on both sides. You know the feeling when you meet someone and they kinda give off a bad vibe? Anyways I don't think she should've been so quick to hate or judge in that situation, like give them a chance to really show themselves as who they are.
Well until next time Caleb The book that I'm reading is called Best Little Stories from the White House. It's a book that has gathered stories that were stupid, funny, important or anything that could be put into book. It's weird reading it because after like ten pages of reading it moves on to the next story. So like right when your starting to make a connection with a character, the story ends and a new one starts. Some stories are funny and some I don't get. There isn't really one character that I can really relate or connect to because the shortness of each story. Since there is multiple stories I guess I'll just predict a type of story that might come along in the future. I predict that there is going to be a story about a secret tunnel in the White house that only few people know about.
I plan to comment on Anil and Pablo's blog. Until Next Time Caleb |
